This study site arises as a part of a research project undertaken by Professor Daniel Capper. Some of the ethnographic data from this project appears on individual Issues pages.

Previously Dr. Capper has written critically about religion, especially Buddhism, and the environment in his books Learning Love from a Tiger: Religious Experiences with Nature (University of California Press, 2016) and Roaming Free like a Deer: Buddhism and the Natural World (2022). He extended this research into space with his book Buddhist Ecological Protection of Space: A Guide for Sustainable Off-Earth Travel, which provides an extended treatment of materials on this web site. Looking to the future, Dr. Capper will continue to proactively explore crucial issues surrounding Buddhism and the environment in space along with Buddhism and climate change on Earth.

This site is a winner of a Multidisciplinary Innovation Research Award.
